San Jeronimo openwork ear ornaments, Costa Grande area, Guerrero State, Mexico, Terminal Preclassic period, 200-1 BCE, hollow brown earthenware, burnished and openwork technique. Each measure 3"L. Both are intact, no repairs, just some ancient small losses along the edges. Delicate imagery is clear and well preserved. This true pair of ear ornaments shows the diagnostic twin zoomorphic imagery, a recognized, archaeologically documented type which comes from the Acapulco/ Costa Grande Guerrero area. Scarce, especially in this condition.
