A large, monumental pair of antique Chinese guardian Foo dog palace statues or pagoda roof tile architectural elements, Ming Dynasty. Modeled as a traditional matching pair, one male with a ball and one female with a cub, decorated in a lustrous Sancai glaze in a naturalistic palette of amber, brown, green, and creamy off white. Rich patina throughout. Includes two hand carved footed wooden bases. Good overall condition; minor age related wear to sculptures, one wood base is missing a base foot.
